El Mercado

El Mercado (aka Historic Market Square) is a marketplace in downtown San Antonio with over 100 shops and stalls that offer items such as Mexican goods, live music, produce, and authentic Mexican food.

It is the largest Mexican Market in the United States. It also has several restaurants, including Mi Tierra Cafe and Bakery- a local treasure for sure.

I will say that it sometimes seems like every space is selling the same things, but we found several treasures and never failed to leave without purchasing something (and to also sample the fresh Mexican street-food- including tacos, gorditas, tamales, and even tripas!).

We recommend visiting El Mercado- and as a side note- definitely visit with friends and family too!
