12/28/21- Day 2- Traveling day #2! I have to say that traveling with cats is quite different than traveling with dogs. Each of their personalities are quite different. It took them a while to come out of their crates and explore. Finn was the first to venture out. Flerken followed pretty quickly, but we ended up having to force Piper out and carry her around. She ended up spending the night curled up under the covers at the foot of the bed. As long as she had her blanket forcefield, she was fine. Flerken discovered a hiding place under the sink, so she slept at the foot of the bed, but would run to her safe place when we’d get up or move around excessively. Finn, on the other hand, had a very talkative night- he’d yowl and we’d call him to the bed and he would bump heads and purr and want to play. We would drift back off to sleep and he’d would start yowling again. Luckily for him, he is well loved, but I hope these nighttime shenanigans are just short term anxiety and boredom.
All in all- it was a decent night to start the second leg of our journey. We aren’t the most well rested, but we still have a lot of adrenaline and excitement hitting us both, so we hit the road with anticipation. We quickly passed into Louisiana and got excited when we drove by Monroe (we stayed overnight there during our trip to Hot Springs). As mentioned in an earlier post, David and I have made it a point to be on the phone with each other throughout the drive periodically, but especially as we cross state lines or want to share something with each other. We travel well together, so I enjoy those moments on the phone connecting with each other. Needless to say, passing into Texas was the highlight of the day.. it’s good to know we are one step closer to our new home for the next few months.
We booked a room in Tyler, Texas for the night. Nothing of interest to report other than I got to go to Freebirds for dinner. (Jessie got me addicted to that place while visiting California a few years back.) It was a nice surprise to find one on our travels here and it was nice to veer away from the typical fast food fare we’ve had the last few meals.
We tucked in for the night happy to have a successful day under our belts.
Traveling with 4 “furry” kids is quite different than traveling with human kids for sure… but we are learning and so are they! 🐈 🐈⬛ 🐈⬛ 🐶
Yes, traveling with a cat... "different" -- we can't relate it to traveling with a dog because we haven't done that (YET). But our Kitty LOVES new places, but hates her crate. LOL! I'm impressed with your kids' crate skills!!
